Mortgage Assistance

The Emergency Rescue Mortgage Assistance Program (ERMA) was developed to assist eligible NJ homeowners who have been financially affected by COVID-19. Utility Assistance Agencies

Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA) - Proudly serving New Jersey residents since 1991, the Affordable Housing Alliance is a local non-profit with more than 32 years of experience. In addition to providing affordable housing solutions, the AHA, in collaboration with different Affiliate Agencies throughout the state, manages several programs that help those seeking relief in paying their utility bills. Community Affairs & Resource Center (CARC) - formerly known as Hispanic Affairs and Resource Center, CARC is a nonprofit social service organization established in 1980. CARC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of community leaders. CARC provides a variety of programs and services which operate from two sites: the main office located in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and satellite offices in Freehold, Keyport, and Lakewood New Jersey. These sites are accessible via public transportation.

Utility Assistance Programs

Gift of Warmth – New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) customers living in Monmouth and Middlesex Counties who have exhausted all other forms of energy assistance can download an application and/or apply by visiting www.njpoweron.org or calling: 732-982-8710.

 Lead-Safe Home Remediation Pilot Grant Program - The purpose of this program is to identify and remediate lead-based paint hazards to prevent elevated blood lead levels in residents in Monmouth, Ocean, and Atlantic Counties, with a specific focus on children and pregnant women. We can however also assist households with no children. The program provides funding and technical assistance to low to moderate-income tenants and owners. Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Universal Service Fund (USF) – help with home heating and medically necessary cooling costs for income-qualified households. Guidelines, information, and applications are available at the offices of the AHA or by visiting www.njpoweron.org

Monmouth County ERAP Utility Assistance – Assisting income-qualified tenant households in Monmouth County that have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and require home energy payment assistanceLearn more by visiting https://njshares.org/energy/

NJ SHARES Energy Grant – Assists income-qualified households who are in a temporary financial crisis and need electric and/or gas payment assistance by providing grants of up to $700 per utility to maintain or restore service. Learn more by visiting https://njshares.org/energy/

NJ SHARES SMART Utility Assistance Grant – Helping income-qualified households that do not qualify for federal or state utility assistance programs but are in a temporary financial crisis in need of electric and/or gas payment assistance by providing grants of up to $500 per utility. Learn more by visiting https://njshares.org/energy/

Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric (PAGE) – a state-funded utility assistance program that helps low to moderate-income families in New Jersey pay their utility bills. Guidelines, information, and applications are available at the offices of the AHA or by visiting www.njpoweron.org.
