Obamacare Open Enrollment Starts Today, Nov. 1
Open enrollment for 2022 health coverage starts today and will last through Jan. 31. A special pandemic enrollment period for 2021 coverage is still open through the end of the year, and individuals do not have to have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to qualify. Get Covered New Jersey is the state-run health coverage marketplace, which replaced the federal website, Healthcare.gov, a year ago.

Monthly premiums are set to increase by an average of 7.9% for 2022 plans offered through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), or Obamacare. In New Jersey, a new insurance company, WellCare of New Jersey, will be selling insurance in the state through the ACA, increasing the number of ACA providers to four. The sign-up period will last three months for 2022 coverage, twice as long as was the case in 2020. Ward Sanders, President of the New Jersey Association of Health Plans, said that the state-based marketplace has “been good for hospitals, good for doctors, good for health plans and good for consumers.”
