ABOUT THE INTEGRATED ADOLESCENCE PROGRAM

The Integrated Adolescence Program is a new offering that innovates the mental health treatment of teenagers (14-18) and their families who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or who are recovering from trauma. The program provides two levels of care depending on the need of the adolescent and their family; Intensive Out- Patient (IOP) or Partial Hospitalization Programing (PHP). IOP will offer 3 days per week for at least 3 hours per day of support for up to 12 weeks, while the PHP will offer 5 days for 5 hours a day of wellness recovery involvement for up to 16 weeks.

This treatment program’s innovation is founded on 4 major components:

Application and Assessment– Homogeneity:  The composition and capacity of the respective programs are foundational forces in the effectiveness of treatment.  The teens (High School Age)  enrolled in the programs will be assessed for appropriateness of not only their presenting concerns but also their prospective impact on the group functioning.  It is best practice principle to maintain a group with members who have similarly aligned experiences and concerns.   The parent’s ability and willingness to engage in weekly family sessions or more as needed will also be considered for admission into the program.  The total number of teens per program will also be capped at 10 to ensure high staff to client ratio.

Community Sanctuary: the teens will be invited to join a safe space of structured supervised time where they can come right after school and engage in individual yoga or meditation, grab a healthy snack, get some help with homework or seek out some support to explore options after high school, or just relax prior to group work. Creating a sanctuary community, where teens facing similar challenges can experience the universality of their journey and be benefitted by a sense of belonging.  The Sanctuary Model® is the foundation of this program’s culture.

Mind/Body Skills Training:  The goal is to help the adolescent develop a toolbox of approaches and skills to support them throughout their recovery and their entire lives.  Beyond just exposure to yoga or mediation, the teens will be provided the rigor of psycho education around the intersection of the 21st century’s technology, the adolescent brain, trauma, and the benefits of mind/body approaches and skills. Each program day will include trauma sensitive yoga or another mind/body skill: iRest Yoga Nidra, Mindfulness Base Meditation, Emotional Freedom Technique, Breath Work, Eco Therapy, Aromatherapy, and Mindful Expression.  Over the course of their involvement in the program the adolescent and their family will be able to create their personalized Mindfulness Toolbox ®.

Family Centered:  The parents and the family are a core feature of the program.  The teen is the most vulnerable member of the family yet is often the focus for changing the function of the entire family.  Parent active and consistent involvement is a requirement for the adolescent to be enrolled in programming.  Family therapy will be provided weekly, and individual therapy, parent coaching or co parent coordination, and parent-child yoga can also be part of the treatment plan.

Eligibility teens, high school age Insurance: Integrated Adolescence is now accepting in-network BCBS, Optum and it's subsidiaries - United Behavioral Health, United Healthcare and Oxford in addition to most out-of-network insurances.
