Long Branch H.E.A.R.S.

Long Branch H.E.A.R.S. is dedicated to establishing Long Branch as a recovery friendly community through Health, Education, Addiction & Recovery Support. Long Branch HEARS steering committee meets on the first Monday of each month via zoom to organize and plan for events and advocacy.

While on the "campaign trail," Long Branch Mayor John Pallone and Councilwoman Anita Voogt arrived at the door of Long Branch resident, Patricia "Petie" Tucker. Pushing traditional campaign issues aside, Petie drove home the need to address addiction issues in the City of Long Branch. One of her suggestions was for Mayor Pallone and Councilwoman Voogt to attend a Family Addiction Network Meeting.

Shortly thereafter, they met with Long Branch resident and co-founder of Family Addiction Network, Susan Marco. So began a series of meetings and partnerships with people like retired West Long Branch Police Chief Larry Mihlon, Recovery Centers of America's Rick Garlipp, Keys Academy and Right Your Life's Kathleen Loures, and RWJ Barnabas Institute for Prevention and Recovery's Andrea Zapcic & Kendall Murphy, forming the LB HEARS "Steering Committee."

Meeting at least once per month, HEARS has aggressively begun the work to build bridges between service providers and available resources to address addiction issues in the City of Long Branch.
