The mission of The Ken Tietjen Memorial Foundation is to support local police and fire departments, as well as veterans, assist children and adults experiencing trauma, provide educational and mentoring programs to high-risk children, and comfort those dealing with life-threatening illnesses.

The Ken Tietjen Foundation is an organization that works closely with the Keyport Police Department. Assistance is offered with grocery delivery and prescriptions for elderly seniors and residents that are homebound.

Our Miniature Therapy Horses

Our mini therapy horses are specially trained to work in hospitals, in large crowds, and in areas of trauma where sirens, noise, and commotion are all common. They are trained to walk up and down stairs, ride elevators and walk on all the different surfaces they might encounter while inside buildings.

Our mini horses are the only horses to have been cleared to work in NYC hospitals and are able to work with injured veterans and first responders as part of their physical therapy recovery plan. In fact, because of their service, our therapy horses Hamlet and Honor earned their badges through Keyport Police and Fire Departments, respectively, and officially became the countries smallest equine first responders. Our School Programs

Our highly successful Aspire Program is based on a strong partnership between our schools, our students, our police and our foundation. We work with the schools to identify students who, for whatever reason, are not achieving their full potential. We then partner those students with a police officer and have them sign a contract stating that they will achieve predetermined goals. At the end of their contract term, if their goals are achieved, they are rewarded through a process that helps bring their families, their teachers and their community police officers together to celebrate their success. Not only does this program teach students about setting and achieving goals, but it also helps the form relationships with the officers within their community.

Our Blue Valor Program

Our Blue Valor program brings together first responders and their supporters from across the country for a fully-escorted motorcycle ride from Ground Zero in NY to Police Week in Washington, DC. Proceeds from the ride helped to fund the National Police Museum in Washington, DC.

Our Community Outreach

We work very closely with first responders to promote and bring to light the incredible work our heroes do behind the scenes in the community every day.

One of the most unique things about our Foundation is that we fill the gaps that other social programs don't fill. Through our relationships with schools, first responders and other community organizations, we are able to provide specialized, on-going and emergency help for families in need.
