The Thrift Shop
The Thrift Shop is in a small brick building located on the church property. Donations of clothing and household items are received from a wide variety of sources. The items are then screened and arranged for display by volunteers. The inventory is offered at prices which make them accessible to people in need.
All profits from The Thrift Shop directly benefit St. Brigid's Pantry with annual contributions topping $5,000. The Shop is staffed by parish volunteers and members of the community at large.
The Thrift Shop is open Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
You can contact The Thrift Shop at 732-229-8651 during the operating hours.
St. Brigid's Pantry: Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 AM -1:00 p.m.
At Saint Brigid's we want to involve the whole community in a way that teaches empathy, encourages respect, and nurtures compassion. St. Brigid's Pantry welcomes the stranger, feeds the hungry, and relieves the struggles of some 50 or 60 people in our community every week. The people we serve are our neighbors and friends.
The dignity and respect for every human being is our goal and our promise at Baptism.
Volunteers are always needed. The donations we receive from local churches, community groups and schools, are sorted by volunteers, placed on shelves, and bagged for distribution. Here is a link to the volunteer application.
Referrals from social service agencies and pre-registration are not required. Clients may register during our normal operating hours and are asked to provide the following:
- Photo Identification
- Proof of residence (must be a resident of Monmouth or Ocean Counties)
- Birth certificate(s) for those listing children under age 18
- Evidence of participation in TANF, SNAP, SSI, WIC, Medicaid or statement of limited income.
Volunteers are needed to support this outreach ministry to the marginalized of our community.
Donations
Donations of perishable and non-perishable items are accepted Monday through Friday. Please contact the church office to arrange for drop off. (732) 222-1411.
Sarah's Feast
Sarah's Feast was launched in 2007 to feed the hungry of our community. Sarah's Feast serves a rich variety of hot and healthy food every Monday and Wednesday afternoon between 1:00 and 3:00 pm and on Saturday evenings between 6:30 and 7:30 pm.
We are the grateful recipients of breads and baked goods from Panera Bread of Shrewsbury & Ocean. These donations supplement the USDA foods received from Fulfill as well as items purchased through monetary donations. Meals are prepared and served to coincide with the food distribution from St. Brigid‘s Pantry. This program provides an atmosphere of welcome and fellowship.
