Neighborhood Connections to Health

Neighborhood Connections to Health (NCTH) is a Coalition based in Freehold Borough, NJ. Our goal is to work together with individuals, families, stakeholders, and agencies to improve the health and well-being of Freehold Borough residents.

NCTH Currently has 4 committees: Access to Healthy Food, Bikability Walkability, Intergenerational Activities, and Lead Poisoning Prevention. These 4 committees derived from health census data and the input of residents during interest groups in 2016. Through these committees, which serve as "work groups," we focus on creating a healthier, more equitable living environment for all people. We welcome anyone and everyone to the table at our meetings, and we also offer services and volunteer opportunities.

NCTH Access to Healthy Food Committee

Neighborhood Connections to Health (NCTH) strives to make healthy choices easy. We understand that the playing field is not even, and that healthy foods are often the most expensive and can be the hardest to reach. Making healthy food accessible to the Freehold community is the top priority of the NCTH Access to Healthy Food Committee. We want everyone to enjoy nutritious foods, regardless of social identity factors.

The NCTH Access to Healthy Food Committee formed a meaningful partnership with Fulfill, formerly known as the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County, in 2019. Since July 2019, NCTH has hosted Fulfill’s Mobile Food Pantry twice per month in Freehold Borough - the 2 nd Wednesday at the Freehold Family Health Center (597 Park Avenue) and the 4 th Friday at St. Rose of Lima Church (16 McLean St).

To date, we have served hundreds of people through this program. We continue to be thankful for the ongoing partnership with Fulfill, as it has provided a new resource to our community. In addition, it has provided NCTH with the space and platform to connect with more community members on a deeper level. Additionally, the Mobile Pantry has allowed NCTH to offer volunteer opportunities, which has been crucial in forming new relationships, as well as engaging and identifying community leaders. The same community members that utilize the Mobile Pantry are the ones standing behind the tables, volunteering their time to serve alongside of us. Thanks to Fulfill, VNAHG/CentraState, St. Rose of Lima Church, and our volunteers/community members for making this all possible! This collaboration has made dreams come to fruition for the NCTH Access to Healthy Food Committee.
