Child Life Coping Support - Coastal Coping LLC

Whether your child or teen needs help coping with routine or unexpected healthcare encounters, support understanding a caregiver's diagnosis, experiences chronic pain, witnessed a traumatic medical event, or is preparing to be promoted to big brother/big sister, a CCLS can help support kids and families at all levels of care from regular check ups, to medical procedures, emergency care or new life-altering diagnosis. Our goal is to ensure all children facing medical challenges have an opportunity to still be a kid, to still have a childhood. We do this through play, preparation, empowerment and support.

A Certified Child Life Specialist is a trained healthcare professional who helps improve children's coping with challenging healthcare and life experiences through the use of therapeutic modalities such as medical play, age appropriate diagnosis education, non-pharmacological pain management, expressive play, coping plans, sibling support, legacy building, grief support and more. A CCLS utilizes a variety of techniques based in an extensive knowledge of child development to meet the individual needs of children and families facing healthcare experiences.

?We have multiple CCLSs on our team to meet your needs including a palliative care CCLS. Coastal Coping utilizes a trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approach. We also offer aromatherapy and infant/pediatric massage therapy.
