New Website Helps Eligible New Jersey Families Receive Up to $1,000 Per Child

Many families who qualify for this benefit do not typically file taxes and may not realize they can still claim the credit. The funding can help cover essential household expenses such as food, housing, child care, and other necessities.

Developed by the State of New Jersey in partnership with Code for America, SimpleFile offers a streamlined process that is designed to be fast and user-friendly. According to the outreach information shared by Jessica Nugent of The Burke Foundation, the application process takes about 15 minutes or less, does not require tax documents, and generally will not affect eligibility for programs such as SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, or TANF.

Community organizations are encouraged to help spread the word so that more eligible families can receive the benefits available to them. Outreach materials are available in multiple languages, making it easier to connect with diverse communities throughout New Jersey.

Families and organizations interested in learning more can visit the State’s SimpleFile website and review available resources to determine eligibility and begin the application process.
