The Matawan Historical Society invites the community to a special Revolutionary War Living History Day at Hourihan Field. The Society highlights that the American Revolution was not only fought at major battlefields like Bunker Hill or Yorktown, but also right here in Matawan .
Matawan was the site of several Revolutionary War skirmishes, and the conflict deeply affected local residents, dividing neighbors and even families between Patriot and Loyalist loyalties .
On June 27, Hourihan Field at 201 Broad Street transforms into a space where visitors can learn about the tension, sacrifice, and courage that shaped the community during the Revolutionary era .
This event offers an engaging way for families, students, and history enthusiasts to explore Matawan’s role in the nation’s founding.
