We developed the current New Jersey Autism Center of Excellence (NJACE) to address the complex and unique features of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) by promoting increased communication and collaboration among autism researchers, educators, practitioners, and autistic individuals and their families to (a) improve our understanding of and ability to diagnose and manage ASD, (b) decrease service disparities, and (c) improve health outcomes for all New Jersey individuals and families affected by ASD.
Goals
- To strengthen NJ Governor’s Council funded projects by providing administrative and technical support, sharing best practices, and facilitating discussion of progress, lessons learned and challenges.
- To stimulate cutting-edge ASD research in NJ by promoting awareness of emerging clinical issues and progress in ASD research and treatment.
- To improve autism research and clinical care throughout the state of New Jersey, educate society about autism unmet needs, and to make NJ a national leader in these endeavors.
