The Monmouth County Public Housing Agency, as part of the Monmouth County Division of Social Services, was authorized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on July 5, 1977 to provide rent subsidies to Monmouth County Residents. MCDSS is proud to be one of the few county welfare agencies in the state to be designated as a public housing agency.
The MCPHA provides HUD-funded rent subsidies including:
- Family Self Sufficiency Program
- HOME (for graduates of transitional housing)
- Family Unification Program (with DYFS)
- Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) (formerly called Section 8 vouchers)
- Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA)
- Kershaw Commons (for disabled),
- Continuum of Care
The MCPHA is continuously seeking out new avenues to provide safe, affordable and stable housing for the residents of Monmouth County. MCPHA is located within the Monmouth County Division of Social Services allowing for ease of access to services provided.
