Be S-Well Club

Be S-Well Club

The mission of The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS) is to reduce the number of youth suicides and attempted suicides by encouraging public awareness through the development and promotion of educational training programs. The Be S-Well Club (formerly known as SPTS Youth Council) was developed from the core mission of SPTS and is open to high school students in New Jersey (and now Nassau County, New York!) who are interested in learning more about mental health and wellness, stress management, resiliency, and how to help peers in need.

Students in Monmouth/Ocean Counties, Woodbridge Township and Nassau County, New York can join our in-person Be S-Well meets for each of those locations.

Since 2015, over 600 high school students have participated in what was known at the time as the Youth Council. Students will participate in monthly meetings that focus on the components of the Wellness Wheel – emotional, intellectual, physical, social, environmental, financial, and spiritual wellness. Members participate in fun activities, games and events all driven by our youth. Students will also learn about their role in suicide prevention, the importance of going to a trusted adult when they need help, and local and national resources. Be S-Well Club members enjoy a variety of bonuses by participating in this program including free dinner at every meeting, community service hours provided for all meetings and events attended, and scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors of the program.

If you are interested in joining the Be S-Well Club, please complete the online application form below for the county you wish to join. All students who submit a form are accepted into the Be S-Well Club. After you submit your form, the Be S-Well manager will contact you to provide more information on our first meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Be S-Well Program Manager, Natalie Hayes-Scott, at [email protected].
