2020 Summer Youth Employment Program Grant Announced
The 2020 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) will be a multi-dimensional program designed to support several sectors in Monmouth County’s Local Area Plan, including our $2.5 billion tourism sector, one of Monmouth County’s three “targeted sectors” and the number one job creator in the County.
The 2020 SYEP will provide assistance to and glean learnings across several Monmouth County’s constituencies:
- Serve both in-school and out-of-school, 16-24 year old youth across Monmouth County, with a specific focus on lower-income youth
- Help small businesses meet their employment needs
- Help government agencies meet their employment needs
- Help not-for-profit businesses meet their employment needs
Our goal is to establish a foundation of success in 2020 and, based on data analysis and program learnings, to scale up the SYEP in the future.
The SYEP focus will be to provide 16-24 year old residents of Monmouth County, both in-school and out-of-school, with the hands-on experience, financial rewards, career guidance and supportive services to successfully engage the world of work.
Each youth will be employed for 25 hours per week over an 8-week period, a total of 200 hours.
