Bradley Food Pantry - St James Episcopal Church

The Bradley Food Pantry serves those in need in the central shore towns of Monmouth County. We provide bags of food and are open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Friday 10 to 1PM; Thursdays 6-8 PM.

Currently, in its 33 rd year, the Bradley Food Pantry serves clients from Asbury Park, Avon, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Lake Como, Ocean Grove, Neptune, Neptune City, and Wall Township solely through the support of 90 dedicated volunteers. During the Year 2013, each month on average, emergency food was provided for 1043 adults and 726 children, representing 643 families. In addition, the Pantry provided 473 Thanksgiving meals (each including a frozen turkey) and 454 Christmas holiday meals (again, each including a frozen turkey). The Food Pantry supplies currently come from a variety of sources:

  • Congregations of several area churches which regularly contribute food or money
  • Food purchased from the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean County
  • Food from the USDA, and the State of NJ Food Purchasing Program (at no cost)
  • Donations from local stores, restaurants, schools, scouts, and civic groups
  • Purchases from local supermarkets (during sales and using discounts)
  • Grants/Credits from Partners in Caring
  • Donations by United Way of Monmouth County and the NJ Natural Gas Company.

Other directly associated activities of the Bradley Food Pantry include:

Support/promotion of the Clothing Room for the Needy, administered by the United Methodist Church and located at that church

Gathering and packaging supplies for the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners that are made available to the clients of the Food Pantry

Distribution of Christmas Toys for children of Food Pantry clients; this program is administered by Jane Moore with the assistance of the St. Martha’s Guild of St. James Church.

The Food Pantry Program operates effectively and efficiently under the guidance and direction of a Steering Committee comprising representatives from all four supporting churches; namely, St. James Episcopal Church, United Methodist Church, and Ascension Roman Catholic Church all of Bradley Beach, and the West Grove Methodist Church of Neptune Township.

Eligibility Must live in Asbury Park, Avon, Bradley Beach, Neptune, Neptune City, Ocean Grove, or Wall.
