Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County's Opioid Task Force Updates Prescription Drop Box List

In 2020, the Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County’s community needs assessment revealed that more than half of respondents (59%) reported that their family did not have a protocol or plan in place for safe storage of prescription pain medications. Two-thirds (65%) of respondents stated their doctor had never discussed alternatives to prescription pain medications with them and half (54%) indicated that their doctor had never discussed the risks associated with prescription pain medications with them.

The Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County’s Opioid Task Force is looking to provide awareness and education to Monmouth County residents on the importance of safe storage and safe disposal. The Coalition, with the assistance of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, updated Monmouth County’s drop box locations and hours of operation per site. This list can be found on the Coalition’s website,

The Coalition is calling upon all their partners, community stakeholders and media sources to help spread awareness. The Coalition’s Opioid Task Force is looking to promote the attached information on the awareness campaign through websites, interviews, radio stations, social media, podcasts and more.

With your help, Monmouth County residents can learn more about safe storage and safe disposal to keep prescription medications out of the wrong hands.
