No Stigma Network Young Adults Support Group Meeting

No Stigma Network (NSN) offers a unique support group experience for young adults, 18 - 40, who live with mental health disorders. These young adults grapple with the challenges of their age group: transitioning from high school to work or college, accepting adult responsibilities, dealing with family relations, navigating social encounters, developing friendships, and seeking love relationships. In addition, they deal with the intrusive problems of mental health. There are few situations where young adults can safely count on nonjudgmental support as they tackle these challenges.

NSN's support meetings provide the opportunity to share experiences, work through obstacles, and enjoy the company of friendly peers in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding. Meetings are facilitated by a trained, non-professional group leader who encourages openness and a positive attitude. The goals of the support group include: increased awareness of health and wellness, improved skills in communication, problem-solving, independent living, and socializing, increased confidence and self-acceptance. Members learn how to advocate for themselves and achieve their personal goals.

All participants are invited to join in the conversation, but no one is ever pressured.  Peer support groups empower the individual to be able to stand up confidently and proudly against the stigma associated with mental illness.
