Regional school under New Jersey Department of Children and Families

The mission of Project TEACH is to provide a comprehensive educational program to pregnant and parenting adolescents, giving them the skills needed to create a positive life for themselves and their children.

The program strives to help each student receive a diploma from her local high school or return to her local school district to complete her education.

Students are linked to community resources for ongoing support.

TEACH programs are located in the following DCF Regional Schools:

Warren Campus

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Provide each student with an educational program based on the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, the Common Core State Standards and the graduation requirements of her local high school

Provide individually-designed education plans that support students’ strengths to meet their academic, social and career needs.

Provide parenting skills and supports to strengthen families

Provide practical, everyday-life technology applications

Teach students alternatives to anti-social behaviors through conflict resolution and programs to prevent gang involvement and substance abuse

Facilitate community linkages for pre and post natal services and assist students in their transition to post-secondary education, training and employment

Transportation services to and from school with state approved car seats for babies

Educational surrogates

Instructional and assistive technology services

Programs provided by NJ certified teachers

Class size maximum – 12 students

Related services as required by students’ IEP’s

Serves students ages 14-21 years who have not completed high school

PROJECT TEACH LICENSED DAY CARE CENTERS PROVIDE

On-site child care for infants and toddlers, ages six weeks to 2 ½ years

Promary care-giving by well-trained “educarers”

A loving, safe and stimulating environment

Developmentally ad age-appropriate curriculum
