Friends Connect Foundation
Friends Connect Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides free social programs designed specifically for teenagers with special needs (ages 10-24). Our programs are inclusive; we do not serve a specific special needs group. Program categories include fitness, self-expression, music, social skills and community service.
Our free social programs promote self-discovery, the formation of long-lasting friendships, and social skills development in teenagers with special needs. At each event, volunteer “buddies” are paired with a participant with special needs to be their host, guide and friend while helping them engage in fitness, self-expression, social skills, music or community service activities. Each program is evaluated by a panel of health professionals, instructors, educators and volunteers for safety and effectiveness.
Friends Connect Foundation’s mission is to provide opportunities for individuals with special needs to develop bonds with local peers. Our monthly social events and four-week programs assist participants in strengthening their social skills, increasing their self-esteem and promoting their sense of belonging within the community. While it may be challenging for individuals with special needs to develop connections with others, our organization strives to foster supportive environments where participants can easily form relationships with members of the community.
