Anger Management for Teens

Anger Management for Teens

This anger management group targets adolescents who demonstrate difficulty managing anger emotions. Group members will be introduced to key concepts and definitions to understand anger and aggression. Participants will be encouraged to practice new communication skills and utilize tools that reduce risks of violence or threats of violence. Weekly assignments will be given to increase control over thoughts and actions. Assignments will be reviewed and discussed at the beginning of each session. It is not stipulated that participants complete these assignments, however to maximize the benefits of receiving support and providing valuable feedback between group members, completing any assignment is strongly recommended. Specific insights gained during group are encouraged to be shared with other group members. To adequately evaluate and measure outcomes of group a pre-test will be administered during first session, and post-test will be administered during last session. Feedback reports and certificates will be provided upon successful completion of twelve week curriculum. Relevant progress will be provided to all third party and referral source agents, with a signed consent for 'release of information' from each group participant. The option to discuss these reports with the group facilitator will be made available throughout group cycle. It is anticipated that successful completion of twelve week curriculum will enable members to improve anger management skills, increase problem solving and coping skills, and enhance communication skills to establish healthy interpersonal relationships. A variety of teaching aides, group methods and learning modalities will be employed to meet the diverse needs of all group members.
