Anger Group for Teens

Anger Group for Teens

This anger management group targets adolescents who demonstrate difficulty managing anger emotions. Group members will be introduced to key concepts and definitions to understand anger and aggression. Participants will be encouraged to practice new communication skills and utilize tools that reduce risks of violence or threats of violence. Weekly assignments will be given to increase retention of information, as well as, control over thoughts and actions. To maximize the benefits of receiving support and providing valuable feedback between group members, completing any assignment is strongly recommended. To adequately evaluate and measure outcomes of group, a Pretest will be administered during first session, and Post-test will be administered during last session. Feedback reports and certificates will be provided upon successful completion of eight week curriculum. Relevant progress reports will be provided to all third party and referral source agents, with a signed consent for 'release of information' from each group participant and/or guardian. It is anticipated that successful completion of eight week curriculum will enable members to enhance anger management skills, increase problem solving and coping strategies, and enhance communication skills to develop healthy interpersonal relationships which support appropriate social functioning. A variety of teaching aides, group facilitation methods and learning modalities will be employed to meet the diverse needs of all group members. Registration for participation is required at least one week prior to the start of group cycle. All participants are required to register in person. During registration meeting potential participants and their parent/guardian will be assessed for appropriateness and eligibility to attend group. At time of registration interview all intake paperwork will be discussed and completed, which includes confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines, disclosure authorizations, successful completion expectations, and attendance policies.
