Organizations that provide qualified swimming and water safety lessons specifically for individuals with autism are encouraged to apply for scholarship funding. Applications will be accepted on a continuing basis, and up to $2,000 in scholarship funds will be awarded to organizations on a quarterly basis. Organizations may be granted up to four quarters, depending on how often the swimming and water safety program runs.
Important Note: Individuals on the autism spectrum and their families may not apply for the program. However, Autism Speaks encourages families to contact local organizations providing swimming lessons and ask them to submit an application. Programs should have a successful history of supporting individuals with autism and providing services to financially disadvantaged children and adults on the autism spectrum.
Funding is given out on a quarterly basis. To be considered for each quarter in 2017, please have your applications in by May 5th, August 7th, and November 10th.
