You'll speak to sensitive, trained volunteers of Parents Anonymous who provide empathic listening about parenting and refer you to resources in your community.

People in crisis generally don't have the energy or ability to take on a long search for help. When those looking for support dial 1.800.SUICIDE, they are seamlessly connected to an available certified crisis center nearest to their calling location. While it’s seemingly a simple concept, the Network is elegant and effective when put into action. Behind the scenes there are significant computer and telephony infrastructures working in concert to provide help within 20 to 30 seconds of a call being placed.

Call if you are a teacher looking for information to pass along to your students about alternatives to running from home. Call if you care about a youth and want information on how you can help someone who may be at risk of running from home.

NJ 211 is a free, confidential information and referral service that connects families and individuals in need of help to community resources. Areas of referral include financial assistance, emergency food and shelter assistance, affordable housing, abuse/neglect, childcare, disability, education, emergency services, employment, health/medical care, mental health, special transportation needs, substance abuse treatment and prevention services.

All reports of child abuse and neglect, including those occurring in institutional settings such as child care centers, schools, foster homes and residential treatment centers, must be reported to the State Central Registry (SCR). This is a toll-free, 24-hour, seven-days-a-week hotline.

NJ Division of Child Behavioral Health Services

The New Jersey Division of Child Behavioral Health Services (DCBHS)is the mental health system for children in NJ. The DCBHS System of Care is statewide with 15 local systems of care serving all 21 counties in New Jersey. Each local system is comprised of the same elements: a statewide Contracted System Adminstrator; a Care Management Organization; Youth Case Management; Mobile Response and Stabilization; a Family Support Organization; and, local providers of mental health/supportive services. DCBHS serves children and adolescents 5-21 with emotional and behavioral health challenges and their families. It is designed to build on the strengths of the child, the family, and the community and is family-driven, and focuses on keeping the child at home, in school and out of trouble. The Division of Child Behavioral Health Services is one of three core divisions of the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) the others are: The Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS); and, The Divison of Prevention and Community Partnership (DPCP).
