Thursday, January 17, 2019
Mid-season auditions for the New Jersey State Youth Orchestra will be held the first 3 Thursdays in January at the Middletown Arts Center. If you know someone in the 2nd - 12th grades who plays a woodwind, string, percussion or brass instrument and is interested in joining an amazing group of like-minded students, please encourage them to check us out. Registration required. Audition requirements posted at https://www.njsyo.org/audition-requirements-and-information/
The New Jersey State Youth Orchestra (NJSYO) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and a New Jersey registered charity. We are operated by volunteers for the purpose of providing musical education to our youth and classical musical performances to our community. Currently, there are more than 100 students grouped into three orchestras by age and ability. NJSYO also offers chamber music groups to provide young musicians the opportunity to learn more repertoire and perform in smaller venues, and summer music camps for all levels of musicianship.
All students wishing to join the NJSYO must audition. Please refer to the audition requirements below for the appropriate orchestra or ensemble. Note that auditions are progressive and so although all audition elements must be prepared, you will not necessarily be asked to present them all. Please also note that if an applicant is not deemed ready for audition to a particular orchestra, the NJSYO will automatically consider the applicant for a group suitable to the student’s experience and ability.
** IMPORTANT: STUDENTS WILL REMAIN IN THE ORCHESTRA THEY AUDITIONED FOR AND WERE ACCEPTED INTO FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON, UNLESS MOVED BY CONDUCTOR REQUEST. **
