Culture & Connection: A 3-Part Live Webinar Series Focused on the Needs of the Asian Indian Community

This webinar series is for MCN nurses and physicians, social workers, early childhood specialists, home health, and community health workers employed in both inpatient and outpatient settings and schools. Dr. Naveen Mehrotra, MD, MPH - Pediatrician and SKN Foundation Founder/Director and Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers-RWJ Medical School is the presenter.

January 12, 2021 - Address the Needs of Asian Indians in the Peripartum Period, Noon to 1:00 PM

At the conclusion of this educational offering, participants will be able to describe cultural beliefs, health care practices, and culturally appropriate strategies to use when providing care to Asian Indians during the peripartum period using a program evaluation tool.

January 19, 2021 - Caring for Asian Indian Children with Special Needs, Noon to 1:00 PM

At the conclusion of this educational offering, participants will self-report intent to change practice by applying knowledge of Asian Indian cultural beliefs and their acceptance of a special needs diagnosis, use of early intervention services, and appropriate interaction skills when caring for families with a special needs child.

January 26, 2021 - Gaining Insight into Asian Indian Teens and Sexuality, Noon to 1:00 PM

At the conclusion of this educational offering, participants will be able to describe how teens who identify as LGBTQ are embraced in the Asian Indian communities and will learn how to assess for specific issues and barriers related to sexuality that may arise when caring for or counseling teens using a program evaluation tool.

Central Jersey Family Health Consortium is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Provider number P92-10-2021.  Provider approval is through October 31, 2021.

Webinar participants who register for the webinar, view the entire webinar, and complete the online evaluation will receive 1.0 contact hour per webinar.  The webinars will be available until October 31, 2021.
