Join the Historic Village at Allaire as we welcome the Civil War Skirmish and Encampment Group to our grounds as they re-enact life during the Civil War. Travel back in time this year as "The Actions at Rural Plains" is reenacted throughout various areas of the village. The Battle of Totopotomoy Creek (also known as the Battle of Bethesda Church) and Rural Plains (the Shelton House) in Hanover, Virginia are the backdrop as Generals Grant and Lee's troops meet on the battlefield, May 28-30 in 1864. Join the crowds in watching, and participate in military drills, meet President Lincoln, and converse with influential military figures. Learn about the lives of soldiers and civilians. A skirmish between Confederate and Union Troops will take place in the heart of the village!
Special scenes re-enacted, musical programs, camp tours and much more taking place.
Historic homes, craft shops, stores, and exhibit halls at the Historic Village will be open for the event!
The encampment lasts two days: Saturday, June 1st through Sunday, June 2nd (register separately). Evening Lantern Tour tickets can be purchased separately on Eventbrite.
Parking fee of $5 per car (to benefit The Historic Village at Allaire's Guilds ). Other donations appreciated.
